Yes. Pressing the Fact-check button on a video reads the captions and shows you the claims that were found. No credit is spent at this point. A credit is only used when you press Verify on the specific claim you want checked. You can close the overlay any time before that without using one.
Each fact-check costs us real money: research time, source retrieval, and model inference. Three a day keeps the product genuinely free for casual viewers. Pro is for people who watch a lot of long-form content and want no friction.
Functionally, yes. Pro has a fair-use ceiling of 2,000 fact-checks per month, which works out to roughly 66 a day. The intention is that no real viewer ever sees it. It exists purely so a bad actor can’t spin up an account and burn through our Perplexity bill in an afternoon. If you somehow find yourself running into it, email us and we’ll raise your limit. No catch.
Yes. Cancel from your Account page and you’ll keep Pro until the end of the current billing period. We don’t pro-rate refunds, but we won’t auto-renew you after you cancel.
No. The only data we store is the claims you’ve asked us to check, the verdicts we returned, and (for Pro accounts) your email and Stripe customer ID. We don’t track your watch history, and we don’t share anything with advertisers.
Right now we only support YouTube on desktop Chrome. That’s where the long-form video and the misinformation problem are most concentrated. We’ll evaluate other platforms once the core product is stable.
